Biography of Angela Bassett

In 1985, she landed her first television movie, "Doubletake" in which she played the role of a prostitute. The following year, this God-given talented actress made her big film debut in "F/X" essaying the role of a news reporter. Since then there was no turning back for this amazing actress, who went on to essay the roles in various films in a stunning manner that won her several awards and nominations.
The film "What's Love Got to Do with It" {1993} catapulted her career to glorious heights. Her portrayal of real-life character of Tina Turner, the legendary singer and the "Queen of Rock'n'Roll" has earned her a nomination for an Academy Award in Best Actress category. She also won the Best Actress Golden Globe for a Musical or Comedy and thus became the first African-American to win an award.
This wonderful actress is also very choosy about her roles. Her religious convictions made her refuse the role of Leticia Musgrove in "Monster's Ball" for it had some nude scenes. The role finally went to Halle Berry, who eventually won an Oscar.
Angela Bassett is happily married to a renowned actor Courtney B. Vance in 1997. In 2005, the couple starred together in a play "His Girl Friday" at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Angela Bassett whose motive is to just "live and laugh" since "joy looks great on everybody" has enthralled her fans with her stunning performances throughout her acting career.
